Former Police stalwart Udara Gayan – who played 5 years- was forced into a move away following Police SC’s new policy while Henry Terrance has made a comeback into rugby following a season away.
Udara Gayan swaps Police for CR
Soon after leaving school, Udara Gayan made his much awaited debut for Police SC and going on to play 5 years at the club. Gayan who was in line for captaincy has been forced into a move away from the club due to a policy change at the club.
According to the latest policy used at Police SC, no contract players will be eligible to represent the club opening the door to players who are police officers.
This change came in following two dismal campaigns for the club. In 2015, Police recruited many big name players however due to various reason on and off the field, the club slumped to a 5th place on the table.
The downfall continued into the following season as they plunged further down into 7th place, topping only final placed CH & FC.
With the downward trend continuing, the management at Police decided to make a policy change, hoping for a better season to come.
Henry Terrance makes comeback
Fellow front row forward Henry Terrance has decided to play one last season as he makes a comeback to professional rugby following a years lay off.
After beginning his professional career at CR & FC, the big man made the switch to title winning Havelock SC and Navy SC before moving to Police SC in 2015. The 2015 season was one to forget for a man who has won titles at the Park club and the Sailors.
Following a dismal 2015 season at Police he decided to concentrate more on his coaching however with a club on the rise in CH & FC, Henry decided to make a comeback and try his luck at the Maitland Crescent club.
