The Dialog Sri Lanka Cricket Awards for the calendar year of 2015 will be held on the 21st of September, 2016 at the Water’s Edge Grand Ballroom it was revealed as the event was officially launched at a media conference held at Hilton, on Monday evening.
This will be the 8th consecutive awards ceremony by Sri Lanka Cricket to honour their cricketers and the 4th successive time it has been sponsored by Sri Lanka’s leading telecom service provider, Dialog Axiata PLC.

International field of Test cricket, ODI and T20 as well as the main domestic tournaments such as Premier League Tournament, Premier Limited Overs Tournament, Emerging Cricket Tournament, Sara Trophy, Donovon & Andree Tournament, Under 23 tournament and Women’s Domestic Competition will be the main categories which the awards will be given.
“Appreciating, recognizing someone’s hard work and talent is I think is very important to international players and also to the domestic players, it gives you that extra boost, motivation going forward. We are hopeful that it will be continued annually as long as possible.” Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews said at the press conference.
A total of 65 awards will be given away for the excellent performances throughout 2015. At the last year’s event, Angelo Mathews was crowned Dialog Cricketer of the Year while legendary Kumar Sangakkara walked away with Dialog People’s Player of the Year.
“Dialog Sri Lanka Cricket Awards is the pinnacle of achievement of Sri Lanka’s domestic and international cricket stage. This gala ceremony will recognize the talents the stars of our lions and the accomplishments of our cricketers at the domestic and international level. ” Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Mohan De Silva shared his views to the media.
Once again, the public will vote for the coveted ‘Dialog People’s Player of the Year’ award. All Sri Lankans can simply type DPP<space>Player’s name and SMS to 2343 from any network to vote for their favourite cricketer or log on to www.cricketawards.online to send their votes. An album of all 16 nominees would also be available on Dialog Axiata Facebook page and the same album would be shared on Sri Lanka Cricket and ThePapare.com Facebook pages as well as the fans could simply vote by adding a like under their favourite players.
Voting will be open to the public from 12.00 noon onwards on the 24th of August to 12.00 midnight on the 20th of September, 2016.
