Two more matches of the National Super League 4-day tournament got underway today (17th March) at Hambantota and Pallekele.

Jaffna vs Galle
Galle skipper Dhananjaya Lakshan won the toss and chose to field first at Hambantota. Jaffna batters struggled on day one pitch as they made only 218/9 at the close of play.
Navod Paranavithana (34), Nishan Madushka (29), Santhush Gunathilake (28) and Saminda Fernando (27) all got starts with the bat but couldn’t convert into substantial scores. The leg spinner Suminda Lakshan was the pick of the bowlers for Galle as he snared 4 scalps for just 17 runs.

Kandy vs Dambulla
Having won the toss, Kandy skipper Kamindu Mendis opted to bat first at Pallekele. The decision turned out to be a good one as the hosts managed to post 297/3 at stumps on day one.
Oshada Fernando who is in great touch having scored two centuries in three games so far, missed out on another ton as he once again top-scored with 97 runs off 135 balls with 7 fours and a six.
