Oshada Fernando brought up the first hundred of the Dialog-SLC National Super League 2022 against Dambulla as Kandy defeated them with ease at the SSC. Jaffna beat Galle at the P. Sara Oval on the other game for the day.

Kandy vs Dambulla

Oshada Fernando who has been struggling to get his footing right in the highest level of Cricket in Sri Lanka lately, finally staged a knock of redemption today. The right-hander posted 138 runs against Dambulla today to help his team win the game quite comfortably.

Thanks to that stroke-filled ton from Fernando, Kandy managed to post a mammoth 318 runs on board.

Up & coming cricketer Lahiru Samarakoon impressed once again with the ball for Dambulla as the right-arm seamer picked up 4 wickets in the game.

Dambulla’s batting woes continued as the team was all-out for yet another 100-plus score.

Skipper Ashan Priyanjan scored a consolidating fifty but it wasn’t enough to make a game out of it for the Dambulla team.

Kandy bowlers hunted in packs while the leggie, Pulina Tharanga, led the attack with 3 wickets to his name.

Jaffna vs Galle

Batting first, Jaffna posted 263 runs on board, thanks to Santhush Gunathiaka and skipper Dhanajaya de Silva who oversaw the innings with each scoring half-centuries.

Gunathilaka made a clinical 57 runs while De Silva orchestrated an enterprising knock worth of 55 runs.

Opening bowler, Dhananjaya Lakshan, who has been impressive so far in the tournament, picked up 3 wickets in the game to top the bowling card for Galle.

The left-arm spinner, Muditha Lakshan also bagged 3 scalps for himself.

The Galle team failed to pace themselves right in the chase and as a result, fell way short of the target.

A late lower-order 36 runs made by Jehan Daniel was the most a Galle batter could make in the game as they were undone for 175 runs.

It was yet another all-around brilliance from the Jaffna skipper, Dhananjaya de Silva, as the right-arm off-spinner picked up 4 wickets to leave Galle toothless in the chase.
