The first round of the Dialog Rugby League is on the brink of ending with Kandy SC looking to end the round and head into the Christmas break unbeaten while Havelock SC aiming to put an end to Kandy’s dominance.
Meanwhile, CH & FC will host Navy SC as both teams aim to end the first round with victories. Police SC will play a depleted CR & FC with their last chance for a win in the first round, following a horrendous streak of four defeats.
The final game of the round one will be at the Racecourse as Army SC play Air Force SC. This will surely live up to its billing as long as both teams decide to show up with their usual flair.
Game one:
CH & FC v Navy SC at Racecourse,
Friday, (15th December) 3.45pm
Navy will seek redemption as they look to recover from yet another league defeat to Kandy. Meanwhile CH will be aiming to end the first round on a high, with a win. This game is sure to be a heated affair as many former Navy lads face their old team.
Both teams are expected to be at full strength coming into this encounter and neither will settle for anything other than a victory.
The young duo of Avishka Lee and Samuel Madhuwantha will yet again hold the key for CH in this game. Their dynamism will be needed to send CH towards a win on their final match day of the 1st round.
For Navy, Hashan Madhuranga and Mohammed Abzal will be pivotal in the 9 & 10 Jerseys respectively. This matchup will be the one to look forward to as the two teams collide at Racecourse.
Navy will come in as 60-40 favorites, however, with the big names they have in their lineup.

Game two:
CR & FC v Police SC at Longdon Place,
Friday, (15th December) 4.00pm
Two strugglers face off at Longdon Place. This CR team headed into the league with title hopes, however, they have failed to live up to the tag. Meanwhile Police, with no wins to their name will be desperate for a win.
The Longdon Place team have been found wanting at the back without a solid fullback throughout the first round. This will be an issue coach Fereti will need to address before coming into this game.
The Cops coach Shamly Nawas – known for his tactics – will undoubtedly be looking for loopholes to exploit to register Police SC’s first win of the first round.
Even Though CR have failed in their previous outings, they will come in as favorites but if Police are able to get under the skin of CR early on, then we may be in for yet another upset against CR & FC.
Game three:
Havelock SC v Kandy SC at Havelock Park,
Saturday, (16th December) 6.20pm
Table toppers Kandy are coming to town to take on second placed Havelock’s at home, under lights. Playing in familiar conditions may aid the hosts but home or away, it doesn’t seem to matter for Kandy.
If Havelock’s manage to salvage a win from this encounter, the league will be wide open, handing title faithfuls an opportunity.
Rahul De Silva was instrumental in last week’s win and his form will be vital if the home side are to get something out of this game.
Roshan Weeraratne will be looked up to, to bring calmness into the Kandy ranks and this match up at half back is something for all to look forward to.
Visitors Kandy come in with a 70-30 chance of victory however home conditions and playing under lights will aid Havelock SC in their quest for a win.

Game four:
Army SC v Air Force SC at Racecourse,
Sunday, (17th December) 3.45pm
A clash between the forces always has something special for everyone involved. High intensity, nerves and passion is closely associated with these type of matches.
Army are currently flying high in 4th position on the table and will surely expect nothing less than a win from this game.
In-form five-eight Ashan Bandara and Fullback Gayan Salinda are two men Air Force will have to keep a close eye on. They have been in scintillating form over the past few games and will be hoping to carry it through to the final game of the round.
Air Force have been found wanting in every aspect of the game this season. If they are to take anything away from this game the likes of Gayantha Iddamalgoda and Charith Seneviratne will need to put their hands up for their team in need.
The game is heavily tipped in favor of Army and there doesn’t seem to be any chance for the Air Force team languishing at the bottom of the table.
