The 12th edition of the Dialog Mercantile rugby sevens kicked off in style at Longden place CR & FC on the 30th of May 2014.
Commercial Bank took on Entrust in the opening game of the Bowl Segment. Entrust emerged victorious over Commercial bank 00 – Entrust 10.

Meanwhile in the Cup Segment Dialog ‘A’ registered an easy win against JKH ‘B’. Dialog ‘A’ do
minated and dictated terms from the word go against a less superior JKH ‘B’ team.

In the second game of the same segment Access ‘A’ represented by most of the current SL sevens’ squad members stamped their authority against Sampath Bank to register their first win on day one of the Dialog Mercantile Rugby Sevens.

The third game kicked off with the star Studded “Nation Lanka” side taking on the Access ‘B’ team who also fielded a fairly experienced sevens lineup. ‘Nation Lanka’ Dominated proceedings from the start scoring three converted tries and conceding just a try to the more experienced campaigners.
NATION LANKA 21 – 05 ACCESS ‘B’
MAS ‘B’ faced a spirited Dialog ‘B’ side, as Dialog ‘B’ team got the better of MAS‘B’ with the Highlight of the match being CR & FC and Sri Lanka Full back Riza Mubarak being his generous self, passing the ball to his mate in the in- goal area to score, but to the teams dismay, he squandered the golden opportunity by failing to hold onto the ball. With that affecting the final outcome MAS ‘B’ failed to register an important win.
DIALOG ‘B’ 14 – 07 MAS ‘B’
The Shield Segment kicked off as HDPL scraped through to win against Ceylon tobacco to record a crucial win. HDPL 15 – 12 Ceylon Tobacco.

Under Flood lights at CR & FC the reigning champions MAS ‘A’ team emerged victorious against Sampath bank. MAS ‘A’ seems to be top contenders for the title.

Dialog ‘B’ taking on Access ‘B’ team after their spirited performance against MAS ‘B’ looked to upset Access ‘B’ yet C Dialog ‘B’ narrowly escaped defeat by a slender two point margin.

JKH ‘A’ kicked off their campaign triumphing against a lack-luster MAS ‘B’ team. MAS ‘B’ in their second loss of the day would look to improve on day two.

The First day concluded with a close tussle as Dialog ‘A’ drew against Access ‘A’ with the help of a last minute try. This was the second Draw of the day.
