Returning for the second leg of the Dialog Club Seven’s, a Tuskers laden CR & FC put on a scintillating show, and along with Air Force A, CH & FC A, and Navy A ended the day unbeaten at Racecourse International Stadium.
The surprise of the day saw the first leg’s runners up, Police A lose to CR & FC and CH & FC B and eventually ended in the Bowl/ Shield quarter finals, dashing any hopes of an overall championship.
Air Force A topped a three teamed group, with wins over Peterson A and Police B as their chance for a title push was increased ever so slightly. Police B and Peterson A finished in second and third spot respectively.
Group C saw a CH & FC side, firing on all cylinders absolutely thump Peterson B, Navy C and Navy A to take top spot as Navy B finished in second place with two wins over fellow Navy C and Peterson B.
Defending champions, Navy A bounced back from a disappointing first leg to finish in first place in their group beating Army Keterians and Galle RFC with ease and were only worked by Army A, however, finished on the winning side in the final game of the day.
This saw Army A take second spot in the group setting up a cup semi-final showdown against Air Force A. Meanwhile, CR & FC are set to face Navy B, Navy A take on Police B and CH & FC A take on their fellow mates CH & FC B in the other cup quarter-finals.
The second day is scheduled to begin at 11.30 am with the Bowl/ Shield quarter-finals as runners up from the first leg Police A take on Peterson B, Peterson A take on the Army Keterians and Navy C go up against Army B in the other Bowl/ Shield quarter-finals, while Galle RFC will get a free pass in their Bowl/ Shield quarter-final.
