Uncapped fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni has been named in India’s squad for this month’s ODI series against the West Indies.

Seamer Mohit Sharma, who debuted against Zimbabwe earlier this year, has also been included in the 15-man party.

Right-armers Ishant Sharma and Vinay Kumar, who endured a torrid stretch of form during the recent series victory over Australia, have been dropped.

Batsman Yuvraj Singh, after a mere 19 runs in six matches against the Aussies, has surprisingly been retained.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who didn’t play in the two-Test series against the West Indians, has recovered from a shoulder injury to return for the limited-overs leg of the tour.

Kulkarni was key to the Mumbai Indians’ 2013 Indian Premier League campaign in May – and clinched 14 wickets in five appearances for India A against their West Indies and New Zealand counterparts in August through October.

The Indians and Windies will meet for three ODIs, the first of which will get underway in Kochi on 21 November. Visakhapatnam and Kanpur will host fixtures two and three on 24 and 27 November respectively.

Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma.
