4 Sri Lankan long distance athletes ran among the best of the best in the South Asian region at the Dhaka 2022 Marathon, yesterday (10) at the Army Grounds in the Bangladeshi capital.
From Sri Lanka, Muththusamy Sivarajan and Thissa Gunasekara competed in the Men’s Marathon while Velu Krishanthi and Wathsala Herath represented the country in the Women’s category. Of the 4, Velu Krishanthi was the top performer with a 4th place finish.

Wathsala Herath finished in 5th place while the men, Sivarajan and Gunasekara finished in 7th and 8th places respectively.
It was an unfortunate affair for the Lankans to not finish in podium spots but with the below average temperatures in Dhaka this time of the year, Team Sri Lanka will be content with their year opener, and will look to build on this in 2022.
