Sri Lanka Basketball Federation (SLBF) held a media brief to announce the sponsors of the national team for South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Championship scheduled to commence on the 15th of November in Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka are the defending champions of the competition and 12 cagers are scheduled to take wing on the 13th of November with 3 more nominated as standby players. The squad has been in a bio bubble for over a month in training and are confident of defending their title in Bangladesh.
Velona and Vaaj Fitness have come forward as joint sponsors to power the Sri Lankan Cagers at the SABA championship while leading apparel manufacturer MAS has come forward as the clothing partner for the championship.
Delivering the welcome noteat the briefing, the Secretary General of the SLBF, Chandana Liyanage added that “You may not have seen that much of prominence in basketball in Sri Lanka but we want to lift basketball into the next level. We are driving with a new vision and this (SABA Championship) is a milestone in our journey to achieve the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers”
The team was presented with their playing kits and travelling kits by the sponsor representatives and the officials of the SLBF headed by President Aelian Gunawardane.
