Defenders FC Sri Lanka will take on Paro FC Bhutan in the AFC Cup Preliminary Round Competition at Race Course International stadium tomorrow evening. A press briefing was held in light of this with the management of both teams at the Football House this morning.

Addressing the media first, the head coach of Paro FC Pushpalal Sharma, a former Bhutan national player, stated that his team is in good spirits and ready to take the field on Wednesday.
“Preparation we did very well, all are prepared physically, psychologically and tactically.”
The Head Coach went on state that the weather will play an important part in the game as the visitors are still getting used to the heat, with the 7pm kick off being welcome.
“We know Defenders are a good team and we will fight till the end. We have acclimatized well, in Bhutan we have the southern part and we have been training there so we are ready. We have 3 or 4 players who are in the Bhutan National team and 4 foreign players are also in the squad.”
The skipper of Paro FC Jigme Tshering Dorjee speaking to the media echoed his coaches feelings.
“Most of our players are new to Sri Lanka, they had some problems before but now they are prepared and they are mentally prepared for the match”
Head Coach of Defenders FC Sri Lanka Dudley Steinwall stated that his team has been in training for the last 3 weeks and they have been playing friendly matches in preparation.
“Our preparations have been going for three weeks, we have played three friendly matches and the team is in good shape for tomorrow’s match. The match is very important to us and with 2 legs it’s important to win the home leg.”
“We had our first training session this morning as the field was not available before. I am thankful to the Football Federation of Sri Lanka for arranging the friendlies and Laos Federation for inviting us and giving us the matches. It will be an interesting match. We are hoping for a good game. As coaches we will look to prevent injuries to players as the next step is more important to both teams.”
“We have left out Mohamed Issadeen from the squad has he has not been on form and we wanted to bring in some future players of Defenders FC.”
Captain Roshan Appuhamy spoke on the team’s preparation;
“The team’s mentality is good. We have foreign players also and playing the first match at home so we have to take advantage of home conditions.”
