Mohan De Silva replaces Jayantha Dharmadasa

Mohan De Silva has been appointed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Vice-President (in charge of Domestic Cricket) whilst Vice President K. Mathivanan, will head the Pillar of International Cricket with effect from the 6th December 2017.

De Silva will replace Jayantha Dharmadasa, who unofficially left SLC following their group-stage exit in the ICC Champions Trophy in England/Wales. Dharmadasa was the head of International Cricket.

There was no official announcement of Dharmadasa’s resignation but he has not attended any Executive Committee meetings at SLC since the start of July.

SLC announced today that they will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on the 7th of January, four days after the Thilanga Sumathipala-led administrators complete two years in office.

At the EGM, they will elect a General Secretary to fill the void left by De Silva’s elevation to the Vice-Presidency role as well as adopt and approve the proposed amendments to the Constitution of Sri Lanka Cricket (amended in accordance with the amendments to the Regulations of the Sport Law No. 25 of 1973.) This will enable the current office to call fresh elections on or before 1st of June 2018 as opposed to the March 31st deadline previously exercised.

According to reliable sources, Roshan Biyanwila, Samantha Dodanwala and Bandula Dissanayake will be running for the General Secretary position on the 7th.
