Dates are set for the commencement of the biggest and the most favored Badminton encounter in the country – the 12th Annual All Island Open Badminton Championship of Singhalese Sports Club. Sri Lanka Badminton has taken the initiative in organizing this Level 1 ranked [Platinum] tournament, following the BWF rules as adopted by SLB.
The tournament will commence on the 23rd of September at the SSC Badminton Complex and MBA Indoor Courts, Colombo 7, till the 2nd of October. Event organizers expect over a thousand plus entries this year covering all age groups, from Under 13 to Over 70. According to the rules and regulations, if any certain duo expects to participate in the Family Mixed Doubles, they should be husband and wife, father and daughter, or mother and son. Current national players, players ranked under the senior national list or ex national players are not allowed to take part in the event.

A cash prize of Rupees Five Hundred Thousand (Rs. 500,000/=), in addition to trophies and certificates, will be awarded to the winners and the runner-up players. As a token to encourage their involvement and love towards the game, all semi-finalists and quarter-finalists of the Under 15 and below age categories will receive a certificate.
Entry forms are available on SLB website [ www.srilankabadminton.lk], SSC website [www.ssc.com] or at SSC office. Entries are to be sent online ONLY to [email protected] . Entries hand-delivered to SSC will be accepted only during office hours, which are from 8.30 am – 4.30 pm on weekdays, and till 12 noon on Saturday. Entries will close on the 12th of September at 4.00 pm.
