The 61st Battle of the Brothers encounter between Isipathana College and Thurstan College will be played on the 24th and 25th February at SSC Grounds, Colombo.
The Battle of the Brothers is one of the oldest inter-school big matches in Sri Lanka, which began in 1964. The two schools are competing for the Blackham Wijewardene Memorial Trophy and so far, Thurstan College has managed to lead the tally with 6 wins to Isipathana College’s 4 wins.
In this year’s encounter, Vihas Thewmika, who represented Sri Lanka U19s in the recently concluded ICC Men’s U19 World Cup, will lead Thurstan College, while Sithuka Gunawardene will lead Isipathana College. Gunawardene, who bowls leg spin, is Isipathana’s highest wicket-taker of this season.
The 44th limited overs battle between the two sides played for the W. A. De Silva Challenge Trophy will be held on the 17th March at P. Sara Oval Grounds. Meanwhile, the 17th T20 encounter played for the Priya Paranavitana Challenge Trophy will be held on the 9th of March at Thurstan College Grounds.
