Left-handed opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka has been suspended from International Cricket for six matches together with a 20% fine of his applicable annual contract fee for misconduct.

The suspension is effective 30th September 2017, and is issued by the Executive Committee of SLC by the powers vested in the SLC Constitution. Due to the suspension, the selectors have not named him in the forthcoming ODI series squad against Pakistan.

Gunathilaka has reportedly breached team rules during the Indian series. He averages 42.41 in 12 ODIs this year and made his Test debut against India as well. Gunathilaka pleaded guilty to the charges on 29th September.
