Danushka Gunathilaka suspended for six international matches

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today in a Media Release officially..

Gunathilaka, who showed tremendous form during the recently concluded SLC T20 League, where he was adjudged ‘Man of the Tournament’, was the most likely contender to partner the experienced Upul Tharanga at the top of Sri Lanka’s batting order.

Batting all-rounder, Shehan Jayasuriya, has been announced as Gunathilaka’s replacement.

Jayasuriya was a part of the Sri Lanka ODI squad against South Africa scoring 0 and 18 in the first two ODI and was later dropped.

He also had a decent SLC T20 League and was named among the five standbys for the initial 16-man squad. Jayasuirya, who is also a player regarded as an opener and a part-time spinner, just like Gunathilaka, has more often batted in the middle order for Sri Lanka.
