Nippon Paint Club Rugby League 2023/24

CR & FC will be gunning for Havelock Sports Club to do them a favour as Kandy host the Pinks up at Nittawela and Navy host CR at Welisara in Week 5 of the Club Rugby League 2023/24.

Police SC v Army SC at Police Park on the 5th of January from 3.30 p.m. onwards

Police Sports Club take on Army Sports Club as the battle for 4th place heats up!

Army managed to secure their first win last week, defeating Navy. This victory help them rise to 5th place. Meanwhile, Police SC failed against Havelocks as wet weather conditions were not doing the Cops any favours as their lines out were in shambles.

Police and Army will have all hopes set on this game as this will decide who makes the cut into the Cup segment, and who faces the drop.

Plenty rests on this encounter!

CH & FC v Air Force SC at Race Course on the 6th of January from 3.30 p.m. onwards

The home team will be aiming to bounce back from a narrow loss to CR, while Air Force will be hoping to register their second win of the campaign.

CH know they cannot afford anymore slip ups as Police and Army are closely behind them. Air Force, on the other hand, will be looking to get their campaign up and running after a torrid start to the 2023/24 season.

CH enter the fray as favourites, but one should never write off Air Force as they are known to be giant killers, and could be at the necks of CH.

Navy SC v CR & FC at Welisara on the 6th of January from 3.30 p.m. onwards

Nothing has gone the way of the Sailors as they are yet to register a win this season. The loss of key players have haunted their progress, and now, a win of any sort would be dearly welcomed by the lads from Welisara.

CR & FC have been a team to watch out for as they are living up to the tag of favourites this season. CR were tested last weekend by CH, but are yet to face a test from the top 2. Having said that, CR are doing all things right and now will be hoping to round off the first round on a winning note.

CR come in as clear cut favourites over the struggling Sailors, and nothing but a win will satisfy Coach Lewke.

Kandy SC v Havelock SC at Nittawela on the 7th of January from 3.30 p.m. onwards

Kandy are still facing a few teething problems, but have managed to get over the line in all their games regardless of this, just like Champions would. Air Force troubled the visitors last weekend but it was short-lived, and after a lightning break, Kandy were unstoppable as they went on to win comfortably.

The Havelocks stumbled against CH, but have looked steady apart from that. The visitors, however, will know what sort of a mountain they have to climb this weekend if they are to inflict defeat on the hosts.

Kandy come in as favourites, but one should never write off the Havelocks as they are unpredictable!
