Cotterrell, Walton, Edwards in Windies Test squad

The uncapped Sheldon Cotterrell has been named in the West Indies’ squad for next month’s Test series against India.

Cotterrell enjoyed a solid stretch of form for the A side against their Sri Lanka counterparts and the Antigua Hawksbills in the Caribbean Premier League.

The left-arm seamer has effectively replaced fast bowler Shannon Gabriel, whose performance against Zimbabwe earlier this year was not good enough to gain reselection.

Batsman Kirk Edwards, who has not played Test match cricket since June 2012, has been recalled on the back of a century and half-ton against India A in Bangalore and Mysore recently.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Chadwick Walton, too, has been included in the 15-man touring party. Denesh Ramdin, however, has been retained as the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper.

India and the Windies will meet for two Tests, the first of which will get underway on 6 November. The venue has not yet been named.
