Anuradha Indrajith Cooray and Niluka Rajasekara will leave the country today for the IAAF World Championship to be held from 22-30 August in Beijing, China.
Both Cooray and Rajasekara hold the National record in the men’s and women’s marathon respectively, and have also qualified for next year’s Rio Olympic Games.
Anuradha Indrajith Cooray clocked 2 hours 13.47 seconds at the London Marathon early this year as he he achieved Olympic A grade qualifying standard for the marathon next year.
Niluka Rajasekara set a new Sri Lanka record in her first attempt at the full marathon event last year at the LSR Marathon in Colombo.
