Minster of Sports Hon. Faiszer Musthapha who witnessed the performance of the young contingent while in Japan on an official mission added that “We competed with 35 Asian countries and to be able to win 9 medals with a team of 13 athletes is a remarkable achievement. We are hoping to put a long-term plan in place for these kids and through that to achieve great milestones even at the Olympics with the help of able coaches”.
He also went on to say that “We sent 83 athletes to the Commonwealth Games and considering the return we got from sending 83 people and the return we have received from sending 13 junior athletes to Japan there is a huge difference. Our intention is to scout for the best talent in the Island and provide them with opportunities to achieve their goals”
