St.Peter’s – 6
Trinity – 5

DCK – 1
Notes –
1.1973 – Trinity lead by C.Y Ching, St. Peter’s lead by Rohan Weeratunge and Royal lead
by Michael Muller had a similar record winning all matches but losing just one game.
Trinity was first declared unofficial champions, supposedly on a better try scoring average (not entirely correct)
and after some protests St. Peter’s, Royal and Trinity were declared joint champions, official school records should confirm this.
2. In 1980, SLRFU introduced a formal league tournament for the Gratian Cup and Royal and Trinity decided not to participate due to not wanting to change their traditional fixtures. But S. Thomas was defeated by both Royal and Trinity.
3. In 1982, S. Thomas’ lost to Trinity (who did not participate again) but won the official cup. Isipathana went unbeaten in 1982, but could not win the cup because they had 2 draws (S. Thomas’ 0-All and St. Peter’s 9-All).
4. In 1983 – League became unofficial again and Trinity with their superior record lost one leg of the Bradby winning the rest should be unofficial champions. Isipathana had to lost to both Royal and Trinity, while Royal lost to Trinity, Darmaraja and SACK in 83.
5. In 1994, Royal under Malalasekera were unofficial champions, with S.Thomas’ runners-up. Isipathana lost to both St. Peter’s and Trinity this year.
2010 SLSRFU decided St. Peter’s and Royal as joint champs after court dismissed the case…
This list is full of errors! I picked up some very glaring errors just by glancing through it. Here are a few:
1994 League Champions was Royal and not Isipatana. Royal was skippered by Rajiv Malalasekara. Royal won all league games that season. Royal’s only draw that year (8 all) was in the second leg of the Bradby. The 2nd leg of the Bradby was not a league game
2001 league was again not won by Isiapatana. St. Anthony’s won that year and their captain was Tikiri Dissanayake. BTW, Royal that year was led by Harin Kaluarrachi and won all games except for the 0-0 draw against Isipatana. Royal were, however, penalized and were neither awarded the championship or runners-up title by the SLSRFA as Royal refused to play Thurstan (Royal-Thurstan match was a league game). If I am not mistaken, Royal refused to play Thurstan because of violent incidents during a previous encounter.
The 2002 Knock Out championship was won by Royal. Royal was captained by Z. Hamid. The Knock Out opponents of Royal that year were Wesley and not Isipatana!
The 10-A side champions in 1995 was Royal. Royal was captained by Aslam Assen. Royal met St.Peters in the final and not Isipatana. St. Peters was captained by Sanjeewa Abeyagunawardena
Can someone verify this: didn’t STC also win the KO in 1990 and not Isiapatana?
I could go on and on, but you get my point: the above tables are full of errors! I am sure other readers can catch many other mistakes as
SLSRFU decided to make St.Peter’s College and Royal College joint champions of the 2010 Milo trophy knockout rugby tournament. This decision was made after the District Court of Colombo gave an order to dismiss the case.
This list is hilarious!
2001 League champions was SACK under Tikiri not Isipathana
2002 Knockouts Runner up was Wesley not Isipathana
2010 After the court order was finally given a year later, the SLSRFU declared SPC and Royal as the joint champions
2011 Royal did not even take part in the knockouts tournament but yet they are shown as the knockouts champions. Amazing!
Dear admin.. in year 2000 it wz Kingswood who won the KO championship and runners up were St. thomas.
2013 Sevens Tournament was won by St. Peter’s… Please get the information right
further errors, in 2000, knock out champs were kingswood bt St Thomas 20-8, in 2001 leauge champs were St Anthonys, for both isipatana mentioned as winners?
