The 47th match of the Carlton Basketball Championship was wrapped up earlier today between the dominant Colombo BC and the Peterites ‘A’ BC.
The match concluded with the Colombo BC recording as easy win 57 points as opposed to the Peterites’ trying 45. The match was held at the newly constructed Henry Pedris Basketball court.
Colombo stamped their dominance right from the first whistle of the match, putting the Peterites under pressure and capitalizing on their strengths. Pranneth Udamalagala from Colombo BC played an exceptional first quarter, scoring an aggregate of 8 points out of the 15 points scored for the first quarter. The score read 15 – 8 at the end of the first quarter with Colombo BC showing a high level of authority over the match.
The Peterites managed to put up a better performance in the second quarter, scoring a total of 12 points while allowing the Colombo BC to a score of only 14 points. Laksman from Peterites A contributed with a stunning 8 points for the quarter, while Perera from Colombo hooped in an aggregate of 8 points. These performances helped both teams take the score to 29- 20 at the end of the first half, with the Colombo BC still in the lead.
Colombo took control of the match in the third quarter scoring an aggregate of 12 points, while restricting the Police BC to a hard earned 8 points. Once again it proved to be a team effort by the Colombo team, exemplifying a tight defense on the court.De Silva of Colombo was the main scorer for the quarter, hooping in 8 points for him team. The scores read 41- 28 at the conclusion of the third quarter, with the Colombo BC in a dominant position.
Even though the final quarter saw a determined Peterites‘A’ team, the Colombo BC were just too good to overcome. The Score read 57 – 45 at the final whistle with Colombo BC recording another win under their belt, proving to be the team to beat in this tournament.
