A stunning century from discarded Sri Lanka all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya led Colombo to a thrilling 3 run win (D/L) over Kandy in their SLC Super Provincial Tournament 2019 game on Saturday at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.
Dhananjaya De Silva excels in the second win for Galle
Colombo led by Dinesh Chandimal posted a competitive 289/6 in their allotted 50 overs, with Angelo Perera also chipping in with 84 runs.
Jayasuriya, the stylish left-hander hailing from Moratuwa, hit the ball to all corners of the ground before he was eventually dismissed for 115.
Skipper Chandimal also made a useful 35 runs while Kasun Rajitha picked up two wickets for Kandy conceding 74 runs.
Kandy was in the hunt with skipper Dimuth Karunaratne giving them a solid start making 44 runs at the top of the order, as they kept up with the required rate during most parts of their innings.
Young left-hander Sangeeth Cooray held the innings together making an unbeaten 82*, as Kandy needed 85 off 11 overs when play was stopped due to bad light.

Cooray got good support from Pathum Nissanka and Sachithra Senanayake who made 36 and 23 respectively, but it wasn’t enough for Kandy as a few late wickets meant they fell short by 3 runs on the D/L method.
Seekuge Prasanna bowled best for the winners as he went on to capture two wickets for 55 runs. With this win, Galle secured their place in the Final with a game to spare.
