Colombo and Galle defeated Eastern and Central 0-1 and 2-1 respectively in the quarter finals of the Lanka Football Cup 2024 at the City Football League Complex.

Colombo v Eastern – Quarter Final

10-man Colombo had to dig deep to defeat a youthful Eastern outfit 1-0 in the quarter final of the Lanka Football Cup 2024.

Colombo dominated the 1st half but could not find a goal. Just before half time Colombo skipper Ahamed Shazny was shown a straight red card for trampling an Eastern player.

Even with 10-men Colombo had better control of the game while Eastern had a couple of threatening moves in the 2nd half. However, it was Colombo Umar Shakeel who took advantage of an indecision at the back to score what eventually proved to be the winner in the 71st minute.

Central v Galle – Quarter Final

Galle scored either side of half time to defeat Central 2-1 in the quarter final of the Lanka Football Cup 2024.

Nagoor Meera drilled the ball into the bottom corner in the 36th minute to give Central the lead before EB Channa’s wonderful header made it 1-1 going into half time.

Central went down to 10 when Mohamed Kurshith was sent off after getting two yellow cards with 2 minutes in the 65th minute. In the 68th minute Anil Shantha’s effort from range looped over the goalkeeper and into the net giving a 2-1 win for Galle.
