Colombo FC playing with a makeshift defence due to the suspensions of H.A.T. Lanka and Mohamed Ramees, soon grew into the game and talismanic winger Bodri Dimitri was at the center of almost everything they created.

He eventually opened the scoring when a lovely through ball from midfield played him clean through on goal and remaining calm and composed, waited for keeper Dhammika Senarath to commit himself before side-footing into the bottom corner.

Dimitri then doubled his tally in the 25th minute after piece of poor defending allowed him time to get away a shot in the box. The chance seemed to have gone when Kanishka’s cross went past the far post, but Dimitri was able to keep it in play and then used his strength to outmuscle two Java Lane defenders to move in to a central position and toe poke past the keeper from point blank range.

Afam Akram then had great chance to pull one back for Java Lane immediately from the restart but after dancing through the Colombo FC defence, he just couldn’t maintain his composure when it came to getting the final shot away. He then had another effort smartly blocked by Ziya Osman after volleying a shot on goal when a cross from the left found him Colombo FC pile on the misery for Java Lane before rain intervenes2unmarked at the back post.

Colombo FC continued to create chances at will as it appeared alarmingly easy to penetrate the Java Lane defence and former Java Lane favourite Zarwan Johar headed home a third from a rebound just before halftime after Madhawa Ruwansiri and Dhammika Senarath scrambled to keep the initial effort from Dhanushka Madushanka out.

Java Lane showed better defensive discipline in the second half as both teams struggled to create chances before the referee took the players off the field amidst safety concerns as thundershowers arrived at the Sugathadasa Satdium around the hour mark.
