The 100th Colombo Championships started off at the SLTA playing courts on the 12th of June 2015 coinciding with the centenary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
Play began on the 12th with the junior categories on the 12th with the qualifiers for girls and boys taking place in the clay courts for the under 10- under 14 categories.
As the tournament progressed on to its third successive day which was the 14th, top seeds in the age categories of under 10, 12, 14 & 18 were in action at the courts registering victories to progress forward. Top 7 seed Thushan Senanayake of the Under 10 age group registered a clean 9-0 point win against Taariq Farook to move forward in the elimination round and Chehan Fernando, the top 4 seed in the Under 18 group had an easy win in his preliminary.
The notable upsets in day three were the in the girls category where top Under 10 seeds Liyara Weerawamsa and Shashini Jayakody were made to face defeat in the knock out format.
The games did not resume today due to the persistent downpour and will restart tomorrow at 12.00 p.m.
