Second match of the twin header at Sugathadasa Stadium was between Super Sun SC and Negombo Youth SC. The boys from down south started things on a high as they were right at the throat of their opposition team.
They had most of the possession right through out the match. Their main striker Graham Ebenizer together with midfielder Nuwan Priyankara created chances but couldn’t capitalize from them.
Negombo youth on the other hand were good in patches. They had their moments which they got close to scoring but they didn’t. The match was hanging in the balance for a while until MRM Murshid scored the first goal of the match. It was by far one of the best goals in the entire league. He spotted that the goal keeper was commiting himself too much staying far ahead of the goal and he shot the ball from the half line which landed straight inside the goal.
Minutes after, the boys from Negombo struck back. When Shanaka Prasad crossed the ball towards the penalty box which found the boot of WA Thrusha, he found the back of the net with ease. First half ended with one goal each for both sides.
In the second half both teams came out with the determination of wanting to score one more goal and steal vital points. Right throughout the match Super Sun looked a far better side than Negombo Youth. Even in the second half 2/3 of the possession was taken by Super Sun. Bandanage Channa and Nuwan Priyankara got so close in scoring the winning but missed out.
Negombo Youth in the other was in the back foot during the second half. They were trying hard not concede another goal and they succeeded in doing so. Match ended with one goals for each teams.
