Kusal Mendis, who is the stand-in Captain of the Sri Lanka ODI side in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, has been signed by Chattogram Challengers for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.

Kusal Mendis recently smashed the fastest ever World Cup century for Sri Lanka, reaching the three-figure mark off just 65 balls against Pakistan in the World Cup in India. In the shortest format of the game, Kusal Mendis has found some rhythm and consistency as an opener for Sri Lanka and a few franchise teams he has played so far, while his wicket-keeping ability is another plus point for the team.

The player draft of the BPL 2024 was held on 24th of September where three Sri Lankan players were signed directly before another eight players were picked in the player draft. The 10th edition of BPL will be held in January next year with seven teams in participation – Fortune Barishal, Chattogram Challengers, Comilla Victorians, Durdanto Dhaka, Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Strikers and Khulna Tigers.
