26-year old slow left-arm orthodox spinner Chathuranga De Silva has topped the bowling charts of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2016.
After completing the first phase of 11 matches, De Silva has 23 wickets to his name for Victoria Sporting Club and has enabled them to take the top spot in the points table. They have won 7 matches and lost 3 with the other game ending in a tie.
Even though he was a part of the last Sri Lanka ‘A’ team tour to New Zealand last October, he has been overlooked for the upcoming ‘A’ tour to England.
De Silva has overtaken the likes of Mashrafe Mortaza, Taskin Ahmed and Mahmuddullah to stand on top of the tree. He has bowled 95.2 overs and given away only 459 runs for his 23 wickets. He has two five-wicket hauls against Abahani Limited and Prime Doleshwar SC under his name.
De Silva has contributed to his team’s success with the bat as well scoring 221 runs in 10 innings with a highest score of 44. The left-handed all-rounder has represented Sri Lanka in 6 ODIs in 2014 but since then has not got the opportunity at the highest level.
This tournament also known as Dhaka Premier League is the premier one-day club tournament in Bangladesh and it gained List A status two years ago.
