Charles Orlu scored an unstoppable penalty with minutes remaining as Up-Country Lions secured their 2nd win in three matches defeating Matara City 1-0 in the Dialog Champions League group stage encounter at the Federation Football Ground, Matara.
Winners Up-Country was strongly backed with their win and a draw in their last two games while home side Matara City had 2 defeats in their last two matches at their home ground.
From the starting whistle game between both teams was a tough one, where the ball was roaming all around the ground and both teams were giving strong fights to each other’s to start scoring.

In the opening stages Matara City’s Prince Asamah had a couple of chances but missed while Abekha free kick was brilliantly saved by Mohamed Luthfi of the Lions.
Antony Anayo had a golden opportunity to give the visitors the lead but failed as he shot the ball wide of the goal as the first half ended.

In the 2nd half Up-Country Lions was looking stronger than they were in the first half with Charles creating havoc.
