The ‘Singer Cup’ Under 15 Division III Inter Schools Cricket champions will be decided when Chandrasekara MMV and Batapola MMV clash in the grand final on the 28th of December.
Sri Chandrasekara Maha Vidyalaya Moratuwa entered the final yesterday after beating St. John’s College Jaffna by 4 wickets in the semifinal. The game was played at the Prision grounds in Pallekele.
They will now meet Batapola MMV in the final which will be played on the 28th of December at Colombo.
After having won the toss, St. John’s College Jaffna opted to bat first and were bowled out for 166 runs in 50 overs.
T. Dinoshan top scored for St. John’s with 58 runs while S. Tiravan chipped in with 22 runs.
Nipun Lakshan was the pick of the bowlers for Chandrasekara MMV, bagging 3 wickets for 19 runs. His counterpart Mihiran Viranga took 2 scalps for 27 runs.
Sri Chandrasekara MV Moratuwa chased down the total of 166 runs in 46.4 overs with 4 wickets remaining.
Lakshila Sasindu top scored with 63 runs and Niran Viranga scored an unbeaten 41 runs. Jonothan Prasanga picked up 3 wickets for 11 runs for St John’s but could not restrict the Chandrasekara batsmen.
