Dinesh Chandimal stole the show with a brilliant 190* as the Sri Lanka Cricket President’s XI dominated their drawn game against the Bangladesh in Moratuwa.
The visitors declared overnight and the Lankans lost three quick wickets early on but the middle and lower order batted around the senior pro Chandimal who went on to make a brilliantly century days ahead of the first test against Bangladesh.
He was involved in a 81 run partnership for the fourth wicket with Roshane Silva(38) while the most fruitful of his partnerships came for the eighth wicket with Chamika Karunaratne. The duo put on an unbroken stand of 112 runs with Karunaratne remaining unbeaten on 50* to go along with his three wickets with the ball.
Chandimal’s 253 ball knock included 21 fours and 7 sixes as he entertained the small crowd present at the De Soyza stadium right through the day.
Many of the Bangladeshi bowlers had a good days work out but more importantly for the visitors, their trump card Mustafizur Rahman bowled a tidy spell picking up two wickets while Taskin Ahmed also picked up three.
