The CH & FC side today won the hearts of many when they took the initiative to observe a two-minute silence before the Kandy v CH clash in remembrance of one Sri Lanka Rugby’s loyal rugby fans, Farook.

Farook, or fondly known as Kandy Fa’s demise came as shocking news last week as the entire rugby fraternity came together to offer their condolences to their fan, friend and brother.

Farook, 65 at his death was a cheerful character and a person who would be there at every Kandy game irrespective of venue. He was also very passionate about Sri Lanka Rugby and has never missed a national game.

The Racecourse was Farook’s home for two days every year ever since the Asia Sevens Series came alive in 2015 and you cannot miss the 5’2 gentlemen in the stands waving the national flag whenever our teams took the field.

Sri Lanka Rugby’s loyal fan, Kandy Fa no more

Sri Lanka Rugby and Kandy Sports Club’s loyal fan Farook Hameed, or fondly known…

Upon hearing the news, the CH & FC teams made certain that they observe the two-minute silence before kick-off alongside the Kandy team.

Had he been alive, Kandy Fa would have definitely made it to the game with his Kandy flag and been Kandy’s 16th man on the field.

CH & FC won the game 33-17 but more than that, they won a lot of hearts in the rugby fraternity with this gesture.
