Here’s a round-up of the two Super 8 encounters in the SLC Tier A Premier League which concluded today.
NCC vs CCC
CCC pulled off a thrilling run chase in the 2nd innings to snatch the victory by 3 wickets in their match against NCC at the P. Sara Oval. They only needed 180 runs to victory at the resumption of play. Ron Chandraguptha and Madawa Warnapura added 90 runs for the 2nd wicket. Ron followed up his century with a patient knock of 41 in the second innings while Madawa scored 54.
After the 2nd wicket stand, CCC lost three wickets cheaply which put them in a spot of bother at 157 for 5 but Lasith Abeyrathna and Wanindu Hasaranga together added 77 for the 6th wicket which carried CCC closer to the target. Hasaranga was dismissed for a quick fire 46 but Lasith hung on until the end and carried his team to a 3-wicket victory over NCC.
Early on, NCC was cleaned up for a solitary 200 and in reply CCC made 293 thanks to a brilliant century by Ron Chandraguptha. NCC second innings saw Angelo Perera score a century which helped them post 332 and gave CCC a target of 240 to get in their second innings.

Ragama vs Tamil Union
Ragama registered a first innings victory against defending champions Tamil Union at R Premadasa Stadium today. They resumed play at 387 for 4 in the innings. Roshen Silva was unbeaten on 42 and he went on to make 86 runs for his side. He found good support from Sameera De Soyza who scored 52 runs.
Ragama declared their first innings at 506 for 7. Chamika Karunarathe was the pick of the bowlers for Tamil Union with 4 for 120 while Rangana Herath could only get 2 wickets for 93 runs.
Tamil Union was trailing by 188 runs and they had 40 overs to survive. Despite wickets at regular intervals they managed to bat out the remaining overs and they were 146 for 6 at stumps on the final day. Dineth Thimodya followed up his century in the first innings with a gritty half century in the second innings. Akshu Fernando bagged 3 for 82 for Ragama.
Early on Tamil union made 318 for their first innings with centuries from Dineth Thimodya and Tharanga Paranavithane.
