The Godfather of boxing in Sri Lanka, Dian Gomes has been appointed as new President of the Boxing Association for the next four (2017-2020) years.
This will be Gomes’ second stint in charge and was entrusted with duties in an uncontested election, Due to the unprecedented success he enjoyed in his first term.
The appointment was confirmed at the Annual General Meeting in which fellow, new office bearers were also mentioned.

“In my first term, we managed a fair amount of success but personally I was not fulfilled. The quest will continue till an Olympic medal is achieved” speaking to the media, newly elected president said.
With his eyes firmly set on the 2024 Olympics, he further stated that “My team and I will work tirelessly until we reach the dream and will fight as one, under my country’s flag to bring a medal”
He went on to say “I thank everyone for trusting me with the duty and will do my best for my country”
