New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne will miss his team’s third and deciding ODI against Zimbabwe on Friday as he has still not recovered from his heel injury.
Milne, who has not played in the two previous ODIs in the series, picked up the injury during the World Cup and was a surprise pick for this limited-overs tour to Zimbabwe and then later on South Africa.
Black Caps coach, Mike Hesson insists though they will not take any risks with Milne although he might be fit for the one-off T20 on Sunday or the games against the Proteas.
Hesson said: “It’s Adam’s first tour back and he started really well. He has just got a slight niggle that we are hopefully he will be right for the T20 [on Sunday in Harare] and South Africa and beyond but we are not going to risk him at this stage.”
With the series level at one-all, Hesson side bounced back emphatically after the seven-wicket defeat in the first match, after scoring more than 300 batting first.
In the second game they won by 10 wickets with openers Tom Latham and Martin Guptill hitting hundreds.
Hesson continued: “We did a lot of things pretty well in the first game [but] we were a little bit sloppy with our execution with the ball and in the field.
“So it was really nice to start well on Tuesday and then such a polished batting performance by Tom Latham and Martin Guptill.”
The deciding match in the ODI series and the one-off T20 will be played at the Harare Sports Club.
