The 110th Battle of North is moving towards an interesting finish at the end of second day at the Jaffna central college grounds.
At the end of first day Centralites scored 161 and in reply Johinans ended overnight for 61/4 . They continued their innings on the second day, but they lost their 5th wicket adding just 16 runs to the overnight score . They lost wickets in regular intervals but good partnership stands for the 9th and 10th wickets helped the Johinans recover from being in deep trouble at 106/8. Jathusan and Stalon shared a 30 run partnership for the last wicket and ended the innings for the visitors on 163 taking a 2 run lead. Krishanjuthan scored 31 and Jathusan remained unbeaten on 28 runs. Thespian Raj took 4 wickets and Thashopan took 3 wickets for Centralites.
With a deficit of 2 runs, the Centralites started their second innings and just like the first innings, they lost their first wicket quickly and 51- run second wicket partnership between Priyaluxshan and Komethagan and 43 runs partnership between Priyaluxshan and skipper Alanraj helped Central to finish the day with a 162 run lead with 4 wickets in hand.
The second day came to an end while the score card moved to 164/6 . Kirubakaran remains with a fighting 30 at the crease and Nilojan ,
Gnanamirthan took two wickets each.
