The Sri Lankan spinners picked up 7 wickets between them, as Sri Lanka managed to restrict Bangladesh to 100 after putting them into bat in the 2nd T20I between the sides at the SSC.
After losing the 1st T20I, Sri Lanka decided to switch things up and chase in this game but looked to struggle early on when the Bangladeshi openers put on 28 for the 1st wicket in just 4 overs. However, Udeshika Prabodhani made the much-needed breakthrough, dismissing Rubya Haider for 16. She would come back to claim the big wicket of Nigar Sultana as well, giving Sri Lanka crucial opening during the Bangladeshi innings.
Though not been backed up in the field, where a number of catches went down, the bowlers ensured Bangladesh couldn’t score freely, leading to the 3 big wickets of Shamima Sultana, Shobhana Mostary and skipper Sultana within a space of 17 runs.
From that point it was all downhill for the visitors, as they slumped from 70/4 to 100 all out in 18.3 overs; Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera, Kavisha Dilhari and Sugandika Kumari all claimed 2 wickets apiece.
Chamari Athapaththu came out like a woman on a mission in the chase, smashing three boundaries off Fariha Trisna in the 1st over. The left-hander looked in ominous form but once again failed to capitalize on the start she got, stumped on 33.
There were a couple of hiccups in the chase with Vishmi Gunaratne and Nilakshi de Silva falling in quick succession, but Harshitha Samarawickrama, who has been purple patch of late, and Kavisha Dilhari took the team home with 9 deliveries to spare.
