Bangladesh U19 bounced back in style to beat Sri Lanka U19 in the second match of the six-match Youth ODI series played today (28th April) at CCC Grounds, Colombo. With this win, the visitors managed to level the series, 1-1.

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first but things didn’t go as planned as they lost 3 quick wickets for 49 runs upfront.

The middle-order batter Chamika Heenatigala then built half-century stands with Dimantha Mahavithana and Dinura Damsith to revive the innings, but lack of contributions from the rest of the batting unit restricted them to 211 runs.

Heenatigala who struck a half-century in the last game, continued his good form with the bat, notching up yet another fifty. Damsith and Mahavithana chipped in with crucial knocks of 47 and 39 respectively.

Al Fahad produced an outstanding spell with the ball, taking 6 wickets for 44 runs for Bangladesh.

It was a walk in the park victory for Bangladesh U19 as they cruised to the target in 34.3 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

The opening batter Zawad Abrar and No. 3 batter Azizul Hakim anchored the run-chase with a match-winning unbeaten 180-run partnership for the second wicket.

Abar demolished the Sri Lankan bowling unit, notching up a brilliant century while Hakim contributed with an unbeaten knock of 69 runs.
