Bangladesh registered a commanding 4-2 victory in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2016 opener against Sri Lanka, in Jessore.
Bangladesh got the lead in the 17th minute through Hossain Rony but Sri Lanka equalized from a penalty by Edison Figurado.
Bangladesh took back the lead a minute later from a header by Yeasin Khan and just before half time made it 3-1 with Nabib Jibon scoring from close range.
Sri Lanka started off the 2nd half positively and made it 3-2 after Chathuranga Sanjeewa took advantage of the defensive error.
However with Sri Lanka chasing the equalizer a miscommunication between the goalkeeper and defender let Rony score his second and make it 4-2.
