However, the new proposal hasn’t been approved by the COVID-19 taskforce yet.
Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said, “whatever the feedback which we can get from the COVID-19 taskforce, will be shared with the Bangladesh cricket board. If the Bangladesh cricket board is not willing to follow the guidelines provided we would be compelled to call off the tour”
There is a high probability this tour could be postponed again as the COVID-19 taskforce has strictly regulated a 14-day quarantine period for tourists. “The tour will be rescheduled during the same cycle next year or the following year” Silva further added.

In case the tournament goes ahead as scheduled, it will be just a two-match Test series instead of the 3 matches proposed earlier. The tournament which is part of the inaugural 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship was originally scheduled to commence on July 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to October 23rd.
On 19 September 2020, Bangladesh named a preliminary squad of 27 players to begin training ahead of the tour. However, the following day, one player had to isolate after showing COVID-19 symptoms, along with anyone who came into close contact with him.
