Bangladesh Emerging Team registered a 21-run win (DLS) over Sri Lanka Emerging Team in the 2nd One Day encounter to level the three-match series in Dambulla.

Bangladesh Emerging Team skipper Parvez Hossain won the toss for the second consecutive time in the series and opted to bowl first.

Shevon Daniel and Mohammed Shamaaz opened the batting for Sri Lanka, but their stay at the crease didn’t last long, as the former was dismissed for just 12 runs. Shamaaz, who scored a valiant half-century in the last game, also departed after scoring 12 runs, putting the hosts onto the back foot at 41/2.

The wicket-keeper batter Sohan de Livera also chipped in with 23 runs, but the 74-run stand set by Navod Paranavithana and skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe for the 4th wicket turned the momentum in favour of the hosts.

Wickramasinghe once again stood out with the bat for Sri Lanka, scoring crucial 77 runs off 79 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Sonal Dinusha, coming to bat at No. 6, also scored a helpful half-century as Sri Lanka posted a commanding total – 297/7 on the board in the allotted 50 overs.

Bangladesh had a shaky start to their run-chase as seamer Chamika Gunasekara dismissed the opening batter Amite Hasan for a duck. However, the visiting skipper Parvez Hossain and No. 3 batter Prantik Nawrose revived the innings, adding a 62-run stand for the 2nd wicket.

At 70/2, Nawrose was joined by Mahmudul Hasan in the middle, and the duo managed to turn the game in favour of the visitors, putting on a match-winning 130-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before bad light stopped play.
