The Malaysian Under-22 football squad are in the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup tournament – thanks to S. Kumaahran.

The 18-year-old striker scored the solitary goal in the semi-final against Singapore at the Sylhet District Stadium in Bangladesh.

The nippy Kumaahran latched onto a through pass before coolly slotting the ball past onrushing Singapore goalkeeper Zulfairuuz Rudy in the 50th minute.

Malaysia will now meet the winner between Thailand and Bangladesh, who clash in the other semi-final.

The Malaysian squad, under coach Razip Ismail, earned a place in the last four after topping Group A with earlier wins over hosts Bangladesh (1-0) and Sri Lanka (2-0).

The final will be on Sunday.
