Two less fancied teams in the top league of under 19 division 1 cricket tournament 2014/15, Bandaranayake College and Maris Stella College put up impressive performances against Joseph Vaz College and Lumbini College respectively during their games worked out on 27th and 28th of October.
Bandaranayake College vs Joseph Vaz College
Rathsara Vithana’s 8-wicket haul and Wageesha Wanniarachchi’s 90 helped Bandaranayake College record an innings and 61 runs victory over Joseph Vaz College at BOI grounds in Katunayake.
Joseph Vaz College were bowled out for only 100 runs in their 1st innings with off-spinner Rathsara and Himath Jayaweera sharing 6 wickets amongst them. Sewvinda Silva was the top-scorer with an invaluable knock of 38. Bandaranayake College in their reply batted brilliantly as they posted a mammoth 301 for 9 wickets in 82 overs.
Skipper Wageesha Wanniarachchi was the star performer as he made a superb knock of 90 while Rathsara Vithana and Shashika Adikari chipped in with scores of 40 and 50 respectively. Spinner Avishka Fernando captured 6 wickets. Joseph Vaz in their 2nd innings once again failed as they were able to muster only 140 runs with Rathsara Vithana once again destroying their batting lineup with a 5-wicket haul.

Lumbini College vs Maris Stella College
Maris Stella College registered a morale-boosting first innings win over the high-riding Lumbini College at Kadirana grounds.
The home team won the toss of coin and elected to bat first. They struggled hard with the bat to post a par score and consumed 82 overs to score 191 runs. Lumbini College in their reply was bundled out for 165 runs with Sanjeewa Soysa top scoring with 49 runs. Maris Stella in their 2nd lease played out the 2nd day scoring 143 runs all out.
