Interestingly, Avishka Tharindu wasn’t included in the Sri Lanka U19 squad which toured South Africa in January this year. He was a consistent performer in the national U19 set up and unfortunately missed out on the World Cup squad due to his lean performance in the Asia Cup 2019.

Since his omission from the World Cup squad, Tharindu has hit 26, 62*, 80 and 181 in the Singer U19 Division I Cricket Tournament 2019/20 and he wrapped up the season a triple century as he accumulated 920 runs in just 12 innings in the 2019/20 season.
