Wesley’s dynamic center Avantha Lee is set to take up reigns as skipper ahead of the Milo President’s knockout trophy that is set to commence this Friday at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
The Wesley side qualified for the Milo President’s Knockouts trophy after they finished fourth in the Singer Schools Rugby League. The team that lost to Trinity in their very first match recovered strongly to later finish off in fourth place behind Royal, Isipathana and Trinity.
The Lee brothers have been Wesley’s keys to success where center Avantha Lee together with his brother Avishka Lee have taken the team through to successful victories.

With regular skipper Denister Goonetileke is sidelined and is yet to confirm fitness, Avantha Lee will take the reigns as skipper ahead of the knockouts trophy. Lee and his team are set to face St. Joseph’s in the quarterfinals of the tournament that is set to be played on the 9th of June 2017 at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
Avantha has also had his fair share of tries under his name having scored six tries accounting to 30 points in total.
The last time the two teams met was during the second round of the Singer Schools Rugby League and the Double Blues; Wesley won it 23-14.
