Massive injury blow for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s ace spin-bowler Wanindu Hasaranga has reportedly suffered a groin strain and is likely to miss the 2nd ODI against Australia on Thursday.

Hasaranga looked in some discomfort during the 1st ODI on Tuesday (14) but managed to complete his 9-over quota and register career-best figures of 4/58. Despite his valiant efforts with both bat and ball, Sri Lanka lost the game by 2 wickets.

The leg-spinner reportedly went in for a scan earlier today where it was revealed that he had suffered a groin strain and not a leg injury as initially suspected.

Hasaranga was Sri Lanka’s best bowler and also provided some valuable runs at the death with the bat, so his absence will definitely be a huge loss to the hosts as they look to level the series in Pallekelle, before the series moves to Colombo.

Australia suffered injury blows of their own on Tuesday, with Marcus Stoinis being ruled out of the tour and Ashton Agar likely to miss the ODIs after both sustained side strains during the 1st ODI.
