Oshada Fernando has been brought into the Sri Lankan XI on day 4 of the 2nd Test against Australia after Pathum Nissanka tested positive for Covid.

Fernando came into the side in similar fashion in the 1st Test, when Angelo Mathews was ruled out midway through the game, due to covid.
According to Sri Lanka Cricket, he was found to be positive during an Antigen test conducted yesterday, following the player complaining of feeling unwell. A PCR test carried out later in the day confirmed the result. Nissanka has been isolated in a different hotel upon identification and is set to undergo Covid-19 Protocols.
With Nissanka already being dismissed in the 1st innings, Fernando will not bat in this innings, but will be able to bat in Sri Lanka’s 2nd innings.
