Asian Netball Championship 2020 postponed indefinitely

Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 (Corona Virus) the 2020 Asian Netball Championship has been postponed indefinitely.

This was confirmed to ThePapare.com by the President of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL) Lakshmi Victoria. The tournament was originally scheduled to be played in South Korea in June.

“The tournament has been postponed indefinitely. We are working on a rescheduled date but we will take our time given the situation around the world. If it gets postponed to the latter stages of the year, South Korea will be much colder and it is my view that we should have it in a country where the conditions are much more suitable for the majority of the countries,” added Lakshmi Victoria.

“Currently according to the instructions given, we have discontinued the pool (National Squad for the Asian Championship) but we have asked the players to do their own training which they can do from home. Also we have provided them with medical assistance in case they need it,” she further added.

Sri Lanka are the defending Asian Netball Champions, having defeated Singapore 69-50 in the 2018 final under the guidance of Head Coach Thilaka Jinadasa.
