Today is the 09th day of the 17th Asian Games, the biggest sporting event in Asia. The cold is slowly becoming noticeable and the air is heavier.

 

Sailor Chameera Lakshan Gunawardene was placed 07th and last after 10 races in Mistral Men,s Windsurfing.He ended last in both races today.The last couple of races will be conducted tommorrow.

Two bouts opened Boxing for Sri Lanka In the Women,s Fly Weight 48-51 Kgs. Division Erandi Gimhani De Silva fom the Blue corner  beat her opponent from Macau 3-0.It was a unanimous decision in the Round of 16 at 40 points to 35.In the Round of 16 of the Men’s 52 Kgs. Fly Weight Division Dilanka Suresh Pattiaarachchi in the Red corner  lost 0-3 to his opponent from Japan. The judges scored 27-30 in an unanimous decision.Tommorrowin in  the Women’s 75 Kgs. category Shiromala Weeraratne will fight with her opponent from China while in the Men’s 64 Kgs. category Mohamed

On the first day of the Athletics programme,  Chandrika Subhashini Rasnayake was  able to qualify for the 2nd Round in a confident state of mind. She was slotted in to run in 1st Heat of Round One in Lane 5.She ran well within herself to win in 52.78 seconds and recorded the 4th best performance in the 1st Round.Her timing was outside her Personal Best  or Seasons Best She will run in the Final tommorrow getting off the block in Lane 6. 

Grappler In Men’s  Chamara Milinda Perera will step onto the Mat with his opponent from Mongolia in the Quarter Final bout of the Men’s Free Style 77 Kgs.weight class in Wrestling He will occupy the Blue corner

China with 96 Gold Medals is the leading nation in the Medal Tally.Hosts South Korea have won 35 Golds Ahead of Japan who have secured 32 Gold Medals.

So far 14 Wolrld Records in 3 Sports and 24 Asian Records in 4 Sports have been established at the Games.
